1 What is TIP? |
In short, TIP is a way for Website Owners and Webmasters to link all the static text within their WebPages to an Internet Reference Source. (i.e. dictionary.com, wikipedia.org or Google) |
2 How does TIP do this? |
TIP is a Hyperlink Machine. It reads your pages that you Upload and looks for static text. It studies the page's font attributes like color. Then the TIP compiler adds code to link all these static words to an Internet Reference Source
|
3 Where can I link my static text? |
Currently, we offer nearly 100 sources built into the TIP compiler for you to link your static text. We will be adding sources as we/you come across them. Additionally, you are able to link your text to a source that you find or create using the custom sources fields. Just look for Internet Reference sources that offer a simple URL structure. (http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=) This link is how Google searches and the compiler just makes your new links with the word on the end. (http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=yourtext) So, look for more sources and share them with us, if they are public sources, we will add to the default sources matrix already offered in the Upload section of this Website.
|
4 How will TIP help my users? |
TIP means Total Information Pages. The result of TIPing a Webpage is like injecting it with steroids. Your pages now offer a whole new functionality whereas if your Website user doesnt understand a word, they are able to easily pull up the meaning. For researchers or people trying to learn/teach (i.e. people using your site) this is a dream come true. Can you imagine reading the Bible, technical document or law brief with TIP's added capabilities? It rocks!!! Never have we shown someone TIP that has not understood how much more power WebPages take on when they have been TIP'd Commonly when we show people TIP, they communicate back all different ways that it could be useful. Lot's of them say, "I sure wish I had this power when I was going to school." We agree obviously, TIP adds a whole new dynamic to the Web, using the power the Web already possesses.
|
5 Will this change my page look? |
TIP attempts not to change the look of the page at all. TIP's compiler is trained to leave this text the way it found it. It uses standard HTML codes to remove the color change and underlining that happens when you link a word.
|
6 What will do to the size of my files? |
They get bigger, of course. It used to be when we first started writing WebPages that we were much more concerned with page size. Adding text to a Webpage does not increase its size typically to be noticeable by the users. Since we no longer use modems and most Internet connections are high-speed the page size increase you will notice with TIP in the whole scheme becomes nominal. You will see a 4-5+ times increase in the size your current text takes as a portion of the overall file size. Bear in mind that graphics are the largest consumer of our Webpage size, not text.
|
7 Has this ever been tried before? |
Yes and No... There are other products on the Internet now that rely on ActiveX, API's and CGI scripts. We don't know of a product that works like TIP. TIP uses 100% HTML. Its a Hyperlink Machine.
|
8 What does 100% HTML mean? |
You could do what TIP does for you, yourself. Just add the necessary syntax for each word to link it and remove the link formatting. Don't forget to add, open link in a new Window. :-) It's not a lot of text, but if you multiply that by 1000 words or more on your Webpage, it becomes a HUGE task. TIP will do all this for you and your pages, within a couple of minutes.
|
9 How do I use this Website? |
This Website is all about the compiler. Mostly all that this site does is take in (you Upload) your Website files, TIP them (add Hyperlinks) and give them back to you. (You download) We do give our users a way to communicate with each other via normal social networking means. Forums and The TIP Top 10 Sources. This process is easy and takes a couple of minutes. We give you the first 5 files, so what are you waiting for, signup and try it.
|
10 Is this Site private? |
Yes and it's free. The only data we keep about your use is the sources and the word counts for an overall stats compilation. We are mathematicians/coders, NOT spammers, marketers or savvy Wall Street types.
